Homestead Update

Wow! I haven’t had a “Homestead Update” since way before we got married. This update is what has been happening since we’ve been married. If you follow me on instagram you’ve seen some of what’s been going on around here.

We’ve gotten kittens! I don’t know how I did it…but I convinced Luke to let me get kittens. Only outdoor, but it’s nice to have living things on the property. I’m so looking forward to getting a fence up and getting a lot more animals! The gray one (Peeta) almost died he was so sick. I oiled that poor cat up….but he got better and is completely fine now.

We got a {small} garden planted, but we’re seeing some fruits of our labor. We harvested some squash and cucumbers. I just hope we can get some tomatoes and watermelon, too!

We’re trying to save money on our water and power bill. We keep buckets to catch the rain to water our plants with, and I dry our clothes out on the line. I seriously love the old-fashioned, slower way of life, so getting to hang the clothes on the line is one of my favorite things to do!

Me and some of my dear friends put on a bridal shower for our Courtney girl. It was going to be a outside picnic shower. And a shower it was! It p-o-u-r-e-d that whole day and evening. So we had a very wet and dark bridal shower…but it was fun. We lit candles and stayed close to each other, wrapped up in blankets. Ha! It didn’t feel like July in the South!
