“Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great substance.”- Genesis 15:13-14
Like I said on Monday….I spent the weekend at home. Actually, I spent the weekend on the couch. No, it’s not four hundred years, but for me, one who doesn’t like staying inactive for very long, it seemed like it. Especially since this was the second time in less than four months. And I was kept there against my will….kind of. Anyway, three days on the couch gave me time to read, study the Bible, pray and think. It was nice to have some quiet. On Saturday, while I was reading my Streams in the Desert vol. 1 I read this:
“God is going to test me with delays; and with the delay will come suffering, but through it all stands God’s pledge: his new covenant with me in Christ….The delay and the suffering are part of the promised blessing; let me praise Him for them today; and let me wait on the Lord and be of good courage and He will strengthen my heart.” – C. G. Trumbull
And y’all, it spoke to my heart. Did it give you chills? It did me while I read it the first time. And it still calms my heart and gives me strength. Whatever you may be facing….whatever trials or suffering you are going through, you have God’s promise through Christ. Lean on that…lean on Him today. And thank Him for the blessing…all of the blessing. Including the delay and suffering. Because it will all work out for His glory.
Sincerely,
Hannah Diane
